Useful Tips
Some useful tips to help you while you're in Sydney:
- Bring warm clothing when you travel to Sydney. Many people expect the weather to be like it is in the outback, but Sydney can actually get quite cool in the evenings, even in summer.
- Purchase a daily, 3-day or weekly TravelPass to get around Sydney. This pass gets you onto all ferries, buses and trains and it's a great way to really see and get to know Sydney.
- Look for a copy of the Metro in Thursday's Sydney Morning Herald - it has a complete guide to what's on in Sydney including live music, theatre, dance, gallery events, movies, live comedy ... and all special events.
- The Sydney Visitor Centres in the Rocks and Darling Harbour will give you accurate and useful information relating to tours, accommodation and things to do & see during your stay.
- For the best places to eat in Sydney check out www.eatability.com.au/au/sydney
- Rather than purchasing an expensive Harbour Cruise, you can simply take the ferry to Manly. You won't get commentary along the way but you will see most of the same sights.
- Many of the museums and galleries have free entry, it's so easy to plan a cheap & enjoyable day out.
- If you want to book a taxi just call 131008 - this number works anywhere in Australia!
- Sydney's tap water is very safe to drink and tastes great - so refill your own bottle rather than buying water everywhere.
- Sydney is an extremely safe city, just use your normal caution when walking alone at night and try to stay in well-lit populated areas.
- Ask a local for what their favourite pub is - the best pubs are usually tucked away in harder to find locations.
Most of our team have grown up in Sydney; those who didn't moved here because of the amazing lifestyle this city offers. If you are into the outdoor life then this is one of the best places in the world to live. Sydney has stunning beaches, national parks, mountains with awesome bushwalks 90 minutes away and of course, the amazing harbour. With the temperate maritime climate we enjoy here, every day on the harbour you will find people sailing, kayaking, swimming, fishing and even scuba diving.
